Lexington County

The city of Columbia is primarily located in Lexington County and is the county seat. A portion of Columbia extends into Richland County.

The county had a population of 216,834 people at the 2000 Census. With it's population of 116,278 people, Columbia contained 53.6% of the Lexington County total.

In addition, where the community of Columbia has a population density of 928 people per square mile [358.5 people/km²], Lexington County averages 310.1 people per square mile [119.7 people/km²].
