Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Williamsport had an population of 28,279 people. This is a decrease of 3.75% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 7.9% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Williamsport had a population of 29,381 people (or 25.3% of the total population of Lycoming County). This makes Williamsport the county's most populous community.

The population of Williamsport represents 0.23% of the population of Pennsylvania (which has 12,702,379 people), making it the state's 17th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 29,381 people, the population of Williamsport decreased 4.32% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 30,706 people).

We originally found mention of Williamsport in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Williamsport was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Williamsport post office opened in 1799.

We also found Williamsport in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (1803).
