At the time of the 2010 Census, Sharon had a population of 14,038 people (which is 12.04% of the total population of Mercer County). This makes Sharon the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Sharon represents 0.11% of the population of Pennsylvania (which has 12,702,379 people), making it the state's 42nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 14,038 people, the population of Sharon decreased 14.02% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 16,328 people).

We originally found mention of Sharon in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sharon was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Sharon post office opened in 1820.

We also found Sharon in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
