Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Galeton had an population of 1,076 people. This is a decrease of 6.35% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 18.79% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Galeton had a population of 1,149 people (or 6.58% of the total population of Potter County). This makes Galeton the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,149 people, the population of Galeton decreased 13.28% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,325 people).
