Perry County was founded March 22, 1820 and was created by taking area from Cumberland County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Perry had a population of 46,326 people. This is an increase of 0.78% since the last Census (which gave a population of 45,969 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Perry represented 0.36% of the total population of Pennsylvania.
