Mifflin County was founded September 19, 1789. Mifflin was created by taking area from Cumberland and Northumberland Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Mifflin had a population of 46,090 people. This is a decrease of 1.27% since the last Census (which gave a population of 46,682 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Mifflin represented 0.37% of the total population of Pennsylvania.
