Clearfield County was founded March 26, 1804. Clearfield was created by taking area from Huntingdon and Lycoming Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Clearfield had a population of 79,183 people. This is a decrease of 3.01% since the last Census (which gave a population of 81,642 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Clearfield represented 0.64% of the total population of Pennsylvania.
