At the time of the 2010 Census, Ontario had a population of 11,366 people (or 36.3% of the total population of Malheur County). This makes Ontario the county's most populous community.

The population of Ontario represents 0.3% of the population of Oregon (which has 3,831,074 people), making it the state's 44th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 11,366 people, the population of Ontario increased 3.47% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 10,985 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Ontario was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Ontario post office opened in 1884.

We also found Ontario in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
