Time Zone: The communities of Malheur County are split between two time zones. Some communities are located in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and they observe daylight saving time. The other communities are located in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and they observe daylight saving time.

The community of Vale is the Seat for Malheur County.

Malheur County was founded in 1887 and was created by taking area from Baker County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Malheur had a population of 30,698 people. This is a decrease of 1.96% since the last Census (which gave a population of 31,313 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Malheur represented 0.82% of the total population of Oregon.
