While we don't have a date for the founding of Texhoma, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1901.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Texhoma: The name Texhoma is a portmanteau<2> and it reflects the fact that the city straddles the Texas and Oklahoma border, with the majority of the city lying in Oklahoma.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Texhoma has a population of 911 people<3> (see below for details).

The community of Texhoma is 3,480 feet [1,061 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Texhoma is about ¾ mile [or ~1 km] above sea level.

The population of Texhoma represents 0.02% of the total population of Oklahoma (which has 3,751,351 people), making it the state's 235th most populous community.

We originally found mention of Texhoma in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Texhoma was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Texhoma post office opened in 1901.

We also found Texhoma on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Oklahoma (1911).
