Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Malta had an population of 640 people. This is a decrease of 4.62% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 8.05% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Malta had a population of 671 people. This makes Malta the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 671 people, the population of Malta decreased 3.59% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 696 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Malta was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Malta post office opened in 1829.

We also found Malta in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
