At the time of the 2010 Census, Jackson had a population of 6,397 people (which is 19.25% of the total population of Jackson County). This makes Jackson the county's most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Jackson was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<9>

From that list, the Jackson post office opened in 1823.

We also found Jackson in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
