Pickaway County was founded March 1, 1810. Pickaway was created by taking area from Ross, Fairfield and Franklin Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Pickaway had a population of 58,521 people. This is an increase of 5.07% since the last Census (which gave a population of 55,698 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Pickaway represented 0.48% of the total population of Ohio.
