Morgan County was founded December 29, 1817. Morgan was created by taking area from Washington, Guernsey and Muskingum Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Morgan had a population of 14,505 people. This is a decrease of 3.65% since the last Census (which gave a population of 15,054 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Morgan represented 0.13% of the total population of Ohio.
