Montgomery County was founded May 1, 1803. Montgomery was created by taking area from Hamilton and Wayne Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Montgomery had a population of 532,139 people. This is a decrease of 0.56% since the last Census (which gave a population of 535,153 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Montgomery represented 4.64% of the total population of Ohio.
