Harrison County was founded February 1, 1813. Harrison was created by taking area from Jefferson and Tuscarawas Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Harrison had a population of 15,053 people. This is a decrease of 5.11% since the last Census (which gave a population of 15,864 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Harrison represented 0.14% of the total population of Ohio.
