Greene County was founded May 1, 1803. Greene was created by taking area from Hamilton and Ross Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Greene had a population of 169,354 people. This is an increase of 4.82% since the last Census (which gave a population of 161,573 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Greene represented 1.4% of the total population of Ohio.
