Fairfield County was founded December 9, 1800. Fairfield was created by taking area from Ross and Washington Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Fairfield had a population of 157,703 people. This is an increase of 7.9% since the last Census (which gave a population of 146,156 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Fairfield represented 1.27% of the total population of Ohio.
