Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Akron had an population of 197,141 people. This is a decrease of 0.99% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 9.18% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Akron had a population of 199,110 people (which is 36.75% of the total population of Summit County). This makes Akron the county's most populous community.

The population of Akron represents 1.73% of the total population of Ohio (which has 11,536,504 people), making it the state's 5th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 199,110 people, the population of Akron decreased 8.28% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 217,074 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Akron was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<9>

From that list, the Akron post office opened in 1825.
