While we don't have a date for the founding of Ithaca, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Ithaca has a population of 30,828 people<2> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Ithaca had an population of 30,828 people. This is an increase of 2.71% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 5.26% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Ithaca had a population of 30,014 people (or 29.55% of the total population of Tompkins County). This makes Ithaca the county's most populous community.

The population of Ithaca represents 0.15% of the population of New York (which has 19,378,102 people), making it the state's 73rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 30,014 people, the population of Ithaca increased 2.48% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 29,287 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Ithaca was in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
