Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Cohoes had an population of 16,678 people. This is an increase of 3.15% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 7.45% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Cohoes had a population of 16,168 people (or 5.31% of the total population of Albany County). This makes Cohoes the county's 5th most populous community.

The population of Cohoes represents 0.08% of the total population of New York (which has 19,378,102 people), making it the state's 150th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 16,168 people, the population of Cohoes increased 4.17% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 15,521 people).
