The origin (or the toponymy) of Carlin: Named after General William Passmore Carlin (1829-1903); who served with the Union Army during the Civil War.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Carlin has a population of 2,300 people<2> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Carlin had an population of 2,300 people. This is a decrease of 2.87% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 6.43% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Carlin had a population of 2,368 people. This makes Carlin the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Carlin represents 0.09% of the total population of Nevada (which has 2,700,551 people), making it the state's 16th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 2,368 people, the population of Carlin increased 9.58% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 2,161 people).
