While we don't have a date for the founding of Tijeras, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1925.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Tijeras has a population of 533 people<3> (see below for details).

The community of Tijeras is 6,390 feet [1,948 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Tijeras is about 1¼ mile [or ~2 km] above sea level.

Time Zone: Tijeras lies in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Tijeras had an population of 533 people. This is a decrease of 1.48% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 12.45% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Tijeras had a population of 541 people. This makes Tijeras the county's 5th most populous community.

The population of Tijeras represents 0.03% of the population of New Mexico (which has 2,059,179 people), making it the state's 74th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 541 people, the population of Tijeras increased 14.14% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 474 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Tijeras was on a map titled Map of Arizona and New Mexico (from Rand McNally, 1925).

We also found Tijeras mentioned on a train schedule titled Trailways Santa Fe Bus Time Table (July 1945).
