The village of Reserve is located in southwest New Mexico.

Reserve is located in Catron County<1> and is the County Seat for Catron County.



While we don't have a date for the founding of Reserve, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1901.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Reserve has a population of 275 people<2> (see below for details).

The community of Reserve is 5,860 feet [1,786 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Reserve is about 1¼ mile [or ~1¾ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: Reserve lies in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Reserve had an population of 275 people. This is a decrease of 4.84% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 28.94% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Reserve had a population of 289 people (or 7.76% of the total population of Catron County). This makes Reserve the county's most populous community.

The population of Reserve represents 0.01% of the population of New Mexico (which has 2,059,179 people), making it the state's 81st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 289 people, the population of Reserve decreased 25.32% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 387 people).

We originally found mention of Reserve in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Reserve was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Reserve post office opened in 1901.

We also found Reserve on a map titled Rand McNally Map of New Mexico (1951).
