The location of Questa has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<2>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Questa, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1883.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Questa has a population of 1,753 people<3> (see below for details).

The community of Questa is 7,550 feet [2,301 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Questa is about 1½ mile [or ~2¼ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: Questa lies in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Questa is located in the (575) area code.

Population Details ...

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Questa had an population of 1,753 people. This is a decrease of 0.96% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 5.95% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Questa had a population of 1,770 people (which is 5.37% of the total population of Taos County). This makes Questa the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Questa represents 0.09% of the total population of New Mexico (which has 2,059,179 people), making it the state's 48th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,770 people, the population of Questa decreased 5.04% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 1,864 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Questa was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Questa post office opened in 1883.

We also found Questa in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
