Mosquero is primarily located in Harding County<1> and is the County Seat for Harding County. A portion of Mosquero extends into San Miguel County.



While we don't have a date for the founding of Mosquero, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1908.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Mosquero had an population of 85 people. This is a decrease of 8.6% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 29.17% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Mosquero had a population of 93 people (or 13.38% of the total population of Harding County). This makes Mosquero the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 93 people, the population of Mosquero decreased 22.5% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 120 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Mosquero was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Mosquero post office opened in 1908.

We also found Mosquero on a map titled Rand McNally Map of New Mexico (1925).
