Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Los Lunas had an population of 16,112 people. This is an increase of 8.61% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 60.57% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Los Lunas had a population of 14,835 people (which is 19.37% of the total population of Valencia County). This makes Los Lunas the county's most populous community.

The population of Los Lunas represents 0.72% of the population of New Mexico (which has 2,059,179 people), making it the state's 13th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 14,835 people, the population of Los Lunas increased 47.85% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 10,034 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Los Lunas was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Los Lunas post office opened in 1855.
