DeBaca County was founded in 1917. DeBaca was created by taking area from Chaves and Guadalupe Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> DeBaca had a population of 1,741 people. This is a decrease of 13.9% since the last Census (which gave a population of 2,022 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, DeBaca represented 0.1% of the total population of New Mexico.
