Catron County was founded in 1921 and was created by taking area from Socorro County. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Catron had a population of 3,507 people. This is a decrease of 5.85% since the last Census (which gave a population of 3,725 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Catron represented 0.18% of the total population of New Mexico.
