The town of Bernalillo is located in Sandoval County<1> and is the County Seat for Sandoval County.


The location of Bernalillo has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<2>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Bernalillo, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1855.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Bernalillo has a population of 10,499 people<3> (see below for details).

Bernalillo is 5,050 feet [1,539 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Bernalillo is about 1 mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Bernalillo had an population of 10,499 people. This is an increase of 26.19% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 58.81% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Bernalillo had a population of 8,320 people (or 6.32% of the total population of Sandoval County). This makes Bernalillo the county's most populous community.

The population of Bernalillo represents 0.4% of the total population of New Mexico (which has 2,059,179 people), making it the state's 24th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 8,320 people, the population of Bernalillo increased 25.85% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 6,611 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Bernalillo was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Bernalillo post office opened in 1855.
