Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Laconia had an population of 16,640 people. This is an increase of 4.32% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 1.4% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Laconia had a population of 15,951 people (or 26.55% of the total population of Belknap County). This makes Laconia the county's most populous community.

The population of Laconia represents 1.21% of the population of New Hampshire (which has 1,316,470 people), making it the state's 15th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 15,951 people, the population of Laconia decreased 2.8% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 16,411 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Laconia was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Laconia post office opened in 1855.
