At the time of the 2010 Census, Seward had a population of 6,964 people (which is 41.58% of the total population of Seward County). This makes Seward the county's most populous community.

The population of Seward represents 0.38% of the total population of Nebraska (which has 1,826,341 people), making it the state's 23rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 6,964 people, the population of Seward increased 10.21% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 6,319 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Seward was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Seward post office opened in 1867.
