While we don't have a date for the founding of Pierce, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1870.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Pierce has a population of 1,727 people<3> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Pierce had an population of 1,727 people. This is a decrease of 2.26% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 2.65% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Pierce had a population of 1,767 people (which is 24.32% of the total population of Pierce County). This makes Pierce the county's most populous community.

The population of Pierce represents 0.1% of the total population of Nebraska (which has 1,826,341 people), making it the state's 63rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,767 people, the population of Pierce has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (with a count of 1,774 people).

We originally found mention of Pierce in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Pierce was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Pierce post office opened in 1870.

We also found Pierce on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Nebraska (1895).
