The village of Palisade is primarily located in Hitchcock County<1>. A portion of Palisade extends into Hayes County.



While we don't have a date for the founding of Palisade, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1880.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Palisade had an population of 328 people. This is a decrease of 6.55% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 15.03% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Palisade had a population of 351 people (or 12.07% of the total population of Hitchcock County). This makes Palisade the county's most populous community.

The population of Palisade represents 0.02% of the total population of Nebraska (which has 1,826,341 people), making it the state's 242nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 351 people, the population of Palisade decreased 9.07% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 386 people).

We originally found mention of Palisade in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Palisade was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Palisade post office opened in 1880.

We also found Palisade on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Nebraska (1895).
