Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Orleans had an population of 371 people. This is a decrease of 3.89% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 12.71% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Orleans had a population of 386 people (or 11.28% of the total population of Harlan County). This makes Orleans the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Orleans represents 0.02% of the population of Nebraska (which has 1,826,341 people), making it the state's 224th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 386 people, the population of Orleans decreased 9.18% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 425 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Orleans was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Orleans post office opened in 1873.

We also found Orleans in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
