From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Merriman was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Merriman post office opened in 1886.

We also found Merriman on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Nebraska (1895).
