At the time of the 2010 Census, Halsey had a population of 76 people (which is 11.75% of the total population of Thomas County). This makes Halsey the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 76 people, the population of Halsey increased 28.81% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 59 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Halsey was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Halsey post office opened in 1892.
