Morrill County was founded in 1908 and was created by taking area from Cheyenne County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Morrill had a population of 4,624 people. This is a decrease of 8.29% since the last Census (which gave a population of 5,042 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Morrill represented 0.28% of the total population of Nebraska.
