This is a decrease of 8.08% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 4.54% since the 2000 Census). At the time of the 2010 Census, Chadron had a population of 5,851 people (which is 63.72% of the total population of Dawes County). This makes Chadron the county's most populous community. The population of Chadron represents 0.32% of the population of Nebraska (which has 1,826,341 people), making it the state's 29th most populous community.
