The origin (or the toponymy) of Brule: Named after the Native American Brule tribe of the Teton Sioux.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Brule was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Brule post office opened in 1886.
