Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Napoleon had an population of 750 people. This is a decrease of 5.3% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 12.49% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Napoleon had a population of 792 people (which is 39.8% of the total population of Logan County). This makes Napoleon the county's most populous community.

The population of Napoleon represents 0.12% of the population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's 80th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 792 people, the population of Napoleon decreased 7.58% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 857 people).
