Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Minot had an population of 47,422 people. This is an increase of 15.98% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 29.69% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Minot had a population of 40,888 people (or 66.3% of the total population of Ward County). This makes Minot the county's most populous community.

The population of Minot represents 6.08% of the population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's 4th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 40,888 people, the population of Minot increased 11.82% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 36,567 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Minot was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Minot post office opened in 1887.
