At the time of the 2010 Census, Harvey had a population of 1,783 people (or 42.38% of the total population of Wells County). This makes Harvey the county's most populous community.

The population of Harvey represents 0.27% of the population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's 35th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,783 people, the population of Harvey decreased 10.36% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,989 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Harvey was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Harvey post office opened in 1893.

We also found Harvey on a map titled Rand McNally Map of North Dakota (1897).
