Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Fargo had an population of 124,898 people. This is an increase of 18.33% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 37.86% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Fargo had a population of 105,549 people (which is 70.47% of the total population of Cass County). This makes Fargo the county's most populous community.

The population of Fargo represents 15.69% of the total population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 105,549 people, the population of Fargo increased 16.5% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 90,599 people).

We originally found mention of Fargo in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Fargo was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Fargo post office opened in 1872.

We also found Fargo in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
