Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Drake had an population of 269 people. This is a decrease of 2.18% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 16.46% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Drake had a population of 275 people (or 5.1% of the total population of McHenry County). This makes Drake the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Drake represents 0.04% of the total population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's 168th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 275 people, the population of Drake decreased 14.6% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 322 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Drake was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Drake post office opened in 1902.

We also found Drake on a map titled Rand McNally Map of North Dakota (1937).
