Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Columbus had an population of 140 people. This is an increase of 5.26% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 7.28% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Columbus had a population of 133 people (or 6.76% of the total population of Burke County). This makes Columbus the county's 4th most populous community.

The population of Columbus represents 0.02% of the total population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's 244th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 133 people, the population of Columbus decreased 11.92% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 151 people).

We originally found mention of Columbus in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Columbus was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Columbus post office opened in 1903.

We also found Columbus on a map titled Rand McNally Map of North Dakota (1937).
