Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Cavalier had an population of 1,225 people. This is a decrease of 5.91% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 20.3% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Cavalier had a population of 1,302 people (which is 17.56% of the total population of Pembina County). This makes Cavalier the county's most populous community.

The population of Cavalier represents 0.19% of the total population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's 47th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,302 people, the population of Cavalier decreased 15.29% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,537 people).

We originally found mention of Cavalier in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Cavalier was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Cavalier post office opened in 1877.

We also found Cavalier in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
