Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Bismarck had an population of 73,671 people. This is an increase of 20.24% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 32.66% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Bismarck had a population of 61,272 people (or 75.36% of the total population of Burleigh County). This makes Bismarck the county's most populous community.

The population of Bismarck represents 9.11% of the population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 61,272 people, the population of Bismarck increased 10.34% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 55,532 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Bismarck was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Bismarck post office opened in 1873.

We also found Bismarck in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
