Durham County

The city of Raleigh is primarily located in Durham County and is the county seat. A portion of Raleigh extends into Wake County.

The county had a population of 224,618 people at the 2000 Census. With it's population of 276,093 people, Raleigh contained 122.9% of the Durham County total.

In addition, where the community of Raleigh has a population density of 2,409 people per square mile [930 people/km²], Durham County averages 773 people per square mile [298.7 people/km²].
