From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Oakboro was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Oakboro post office opened in 1914.

We also found Oakboro on a map titled Shell Oil Road Map for North Carolina (1956).
